Soft Classic Summer Outfits: Body Shape Shopping Style Guide
Trying to refresh your wardrobe this summer?
This is what you need to know for your Soft Classic type
Soft Classics are the epitome of simplicity, and as they say, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Or even better, “less is more.”
With summer in the picture, less is the requirement. Those thin, soft, and equally rich fabrics are made for your body type and the warm season.
When it comes to your wardrobe, quality should be the top-most priority, and summer fabrics render that efficiently.
But soft classics aren’t only about formals as is mostly perceived. They are the image of elegance, poise, and charm. We are talking about princess aesthetics.
And by princess, I don’t mean evening gowns; we are talking about ultimate grace and beauty.
Every soft, symmetrical, and modest attire is your forte and it doesn’t stop at formals. In fact, you are all about pretty dresses, tops, fluid bottoms, and summer casuals.
Your wardrobe matches quite a lot of boxes with soft gamine; it just needs to be a little more modest and simple when it comes to details. You can use it to your benefit and I’ll tell you how soon enough!
Let’s get into the details.
Soft Classic Kibbe Body Type
Your lines will help you curate a wardrobe that doesn’t work against your body type.
Soft Classic types are a beautiful blend of yin and yang characteristics with a smooth shift towards yin. For instance, your height is neither too yin nor too yang.
You are not too tall nor too petite; it’s balanced.
Almost every detail of your body type is balanced, be it height, bone structure, body ratio, face symmetry, body symmetry, etc.
- This particular detail asks you to add a symmetrical and balanced silhouette to your wardrobe. The lines of your outfits shouldn’t be too rounded or too sharp.
After a balanced bone structure, there’s a soft wrap of flesh throughout your body, boosting your yin undercurrent.
- This gentle flesh wrap represents the “soft” in “soft classics.” You are not too voluptuous nor too lean/lithe. Your outfits should thus be soft and delicate.
This flesh deposition gives your body an S-shape/wave-like figure. Some exceptions may even have a double curve, but that’s not your main accommodation.
- Because of your body’s flesh and shape, you want to emphasize your waist. This doesn’t mean low-waist bottoms. It means high-waisted bottoms to break your silhouette into the correct body ratio.
Your face frame is balanced, but it’s wrapped into a delicate layer of flesh. This results in a heart-shaped face with visible lines but also softer cheeks.
Soft Classic Summer Outfits | A Complete Style
How to take suggestions from the soft gamine wardrobe? I’ll elaborate.
This is a soft gamine outfit! But changing a few details will make it perfect for soft classics.
- The length: Your body type blooms in ¾ skirt lengths instead of short lengths.
- The neckline strings: Instead of having so many strings in the chest area, one single string to tie your neckline is enough.
- Switch shoes: Wear sandals or simple heels instead.
- Hair: Tie it with a bow instead of keeping it free.
The vibe completely changes, right? The first image represents a fun vibe. This outfit, on the other hand, is simply classic and timeless. The plain bandana at the head adds to your vintage charisma.
This is also a suggestion from our “Soft gamine wardrobe” and it suits every single one of your kibbe accommodations. I would, however, ask you to choose a simpler print or a less loud print.
When it comes to choosing dresses, a lot can be inspired by the soft gamine wardrobe.
Your wardrobe doesn’t start and stop at soft gamine suggestions. There’s so much more!
Soft Gamine Casuals
If there’s anyone who executes the “I’m a summer vacation woman,” It’s you! Your outfit selection has a very tourist kind of vibe.
Look at Grace Kelly, she always looks like she is enjoying a boat or some vacation when in casuals.
It’s the “Old Money” vibe that your body type carries within itself— royal and regal.
- Shirt and Shorts
The classic “shirt and tailored shorts” will never go out of trend.
The detailing matters, of course!
- The shirt is neither loose-fit nor body-hugging. It’s tailored to perfect balance.
- The lines of this shirt are neither too sharp nor too sloppy.
- The bell cuffs add a soft yin touch to your otherwise formal shirt.
- The shorts are tailored and not hip-hugging; maintaining the poise you carry even in a casual outfit.
- High-waisted bottoms: It provides waist-definition to your yin figure.
- Sleek and symmetrical hairstyle.
- Simple but powerful accessories like the sunglass, dainty belt, subtle earrings, and shoulder bag.
- Subtle color combinations: The color choices aren’t too loud either.
You can also wear denim shorts on a casual vacation but ensure they aren’t tight or hip-hugging.
- Soft blouse paired with Linen Pants
The classic sweater statement at the shoulders will forever remain timeless.
After shorts, linen pants paired with soft tops are another hit for soft classic casuals.
To finish the outfit, you don’t need much; vintage glasses are more than enough.
Soft Classic Tops
What to keep in mind while choosing tops for your body type?
- Symmetry: Whether it’s your neckline, sleeves, or hem; symmetry is necessary. Asymmetrical lines don’t suit your body simply for the reason that you are all about balance.
- Tailored or semi-fit: Don’t go for loose-fit because it will hide your balanced silhouette. Although body-flattering choices work for you, it’s best to go with semi-fit articles. This doesn’t mean you cannot wear body-hugging tops. With the right neckline, sleeves, and hem; body hugging tops will work for you.
- Below-waist length: Yes, you need to accommodate waist definition, but it shouldn’t be done using a crop top or short length. Crop tops provide a very informal image. A better choice would be to choose a long-length top and tuck it inside a high-waisted bottom.
- Fabric: Thin and thick fabrics both work for soft classic body types. Ensure your thick fabric has a soft touch and appeal to its existence. It should also not create too boxy a silhouette for your body type; you are all about balanced yin details.
Because your body type is influenced by yin traits, thin fabrics such as georgette, satin, and chiffon blouses also look stunning on you (This doesn’t work for dramatic classics)
Your balanced height allows you to wear tops without tucking them into bottoms as long as you use a belt to provide that much-needed waist definition.
Soft Classic Necklines
Your neckline should shift towards modesty and simplicity instead of going overboard. For soft classics, my forever favorite would be a polo neck with no sleeves, ¼ sleeves, or bishop sleeves.
- Closed and curved collar with a string tie: A closed collar with rounded edges and a string tie would appeal to your Yin elements and a balanced frame.
- U-neckline
- Curved v-neckline
- Pretty collars (tucked to the neck and untucked.
- Neck strap.
- Queen Anne
- Sweetheart neckline (Not plunging)
- Off-shoulder
- Jewel neckline
- Lace round neckline
- Collarless button up
- Ribbon tie at the neck.
- Boat neck
Soft Classic Sleeves
This is where you can highlight your yin undercurrent beautifully! Just like soft gamine; fancy, pretty, delicate, and gorgeous sleeves look stunning on you.
We are talking lace kimono sleeves, balloon sleeves, satin bishop sleeves, and so much more.
Of course, the body-fit long sleeves and ¼ sleeves will forever remain one of the best choices for you, but don’t stop yourself at that when the variety is infinite.
- Long min-palm sleeves: When choosing long sleeves, don’t let them stop at your wrist. Instead, they should end at the middle of your palm. This not only emphasizes your balanced arms, but they are also very yin in nature and will highlight your soft flesh underneath.
- Bishops: when choosing a bishop sleeve, the fabric is important. Choose fluid fabrics such as satin, chiffon, georgette, etc., when going for bishop sleeves.
- Cap sleeves
- Petal sleeves
- Short puff sleeves
- Balloon sleeves of all lengths
- Long bell sleeves.
- Cape sleeves
- Georgette virago
- Ruffled
Soft Classic Dresses
Use the same guidelines for necklines and sleeves when choosing dresses for your body type. Instead of going for short dresses, the length should be ¾. 3/4th lengths create a balanced silhouette for your body type.
Bodycon and semi-fit dresses both work for your body type.
When going with bodycon dresses, a little-fashioned hem is more than welcome. Your main focus should be highlighting the royalty and regalness the dress carries more than your curves.
This can be portrayed with a rich fabric, classy and subtle design at the neckline/hems, and the jewelry/makeup/hairstyle you choose.
After bodycon dresses, a semi-fit dress with an airy skirt is a beautiful choice for you! In fact, a better one! This particular fit enhances your body type without hurting your yin undercurrent.
An A-line skirt adds fluidity and curves to your silhouette, complimenting your yin undercurrent.
Soft Classic Summer Bottoms
For any bottom you choose, whether shirt or trousers, high-waist is a requirement. It provides that much-needed body ratio SCs thrive on!
Pants:
Pants will never disappoint your body type. Instead of going for narrow bottoms, a better choice would be straight pants that hug your hips briefly and run straight down.
Avoid body-fit or narrow-fit pants at all costs, they disturb your symmetrical silhouette.
Linen fabric is a great choice for offices and casuals, but other fabrics are more than welcome, too! The keyword is to ensure the fabric is neither too thick nor too loose. Too thick a fabric will hide the gentle wrap of flesh your body accommodates.
After straight pants, bell bottoms and boot-cut are other great choices.
Tailored shorts:
As discussed, tailored shorts are THE OG for your body type when choosing casuals. This is the only time short length benefits your body type.
Denim shorts:
I’ll always recommend tailored shorts over denim shorts, but they work for your body type, too, and you shouldn’t limit your choices to tailored details only! Make sure they are not too tight!
Pencil skirts with frilled hems.
After a-line skirts, pencil skirts are your go-to formal choice. The length is better stopped at the knee, but 3/4th bodycon skirts with flared hem are another gorgeous choice!
Avoid mini-skirts, they might look too juvenile on you.
For SCs, a flared or curved hem is always a decent choice. Stopping skirts at a straight line wouldn’t favor your yin undercurrent.
Denim Jeans
Yes, straight denim jeans on a fun Sunday works!
Soft Classic Formals
After pairing blouses with pencil skirts and pants, dresses are the NEW FORMALS!
Of course, there’s a certain vision needed to separate fancy dresses from the ones you can wear in the office, but you can grab onto the difference real quick.
Let’s take this dress as an example:
It’s pretty simple and the fabric is rich!
From its enclosed neckline to the long length, everything is appropriate for an office attire.
The dress can easily be worn in an office, but there’s something wrong with this look. Although formal, it gives away an informal appeal. That’s because the “hair” here is too casual and carefree.
You want something more formal and regal. Parting the hair at the center and tying half of it at the back with a dainty clutch or bow will tie the look together for your office.
Soft Classic Fabrics
Your fabric choice should look soft and also feel soft! That’s your first requirement when choosing articles.
Thick stretchable fabrics are gorgeous choices, but AVOID SPANDEX and other jersey material.
When choosing formal attire, these fabric choices are gorgeous:
- Linen
- Corduroy
- Gabardine
- Tweed
- Pure cotton
Choose cotton and linen for shirts! Don’t choose stiff fabrics for your formal shirts. A little fluidity is very necessary for your soft classic body type.
If you are ever confused about choosing the right fabric, select a thick fabric that still flows with air instead of creating too much geometrical structure.
But that’s not only your fabrics. Because your body type accommodates yin traits, these fabrics look gorgeous on you, too!
- Georgette
- Chiffon
- Satin
- Silk
- Lace.
Lace can be used for adding delicate details to your outfit, especially at the neckline, collars, sleeves, and hem of your dress.
Soft Classic Hairstyle
Unlike dramatic classics, you don’t want sleek and polished hairstyles. You want gentle and lush waves, whether open or tied.
Even when tied, it shouldn’t take away the bounce your curls carry with themselves.
Hairstyles that flatter your body type and essence:
- Curtain bangs without a doubt. If you are ever confused about hairstyles, that’s it!
- Loose and low buns.
- Braided buns
- Gentle waves.
- Low ponytail (if long hair)
- Clutcher buns.
- Short waves parted at the center.
If you have long hair, keep them tied in a loose bun! It’s better if you have short and wavy hair; they are more season-appropriated.
Soft Classic Makeup
You don’t want anything loud on your face. Your makeup should be subtle and harmonizing. A no-makeup makeup look is a great way to start!
Don’t go for nudes either. Instead, choose naturally-stained and glossed lips for your body type. The same goes for your cheeks, add a natural blush but don’t go overboard.
As for the eyes, no need for dramatic eyeliners. It should be subtle and simple.
Soft Classic Accessories
Subtle is the keyword for whichever category you choose, and that doesn’t change for your accessories either.
“Less is more.”
A dainty chain followed by an equally small but pretty pendant is more than enough. Pair them with small earrings and rings. Nothing more, nothing less.
Your body type flourishes in different hair ties, hair pins, and bows. Use scarves, ribbons, and strings to style your hair. It complements your yin elements.
